Our reading for the week focused on structuralism. We talked about how we can have different interpretations when things are seen differently. For example, we watched the trailer for the Stephen King movie Misery. We then watched a trailer for the same movie that was made by someone on You Tube. They took scenes out of their original context and made the movie appear like a full-on romance movie, which it most definitely was not. Also, it was briefly mentioned that people who like satire and parody would be interested in structuralism. I am wondering how our readings on structuralism apply to satires like Monty Python.
