I have been the Writing Center a couple times and did not have any luck actually shadowing a writing tutor. Someone was supposed to be there, but never showed up. It really is important to call the writing center and let them know if you’re not going to be able to make it to your session. When I finally did get to shadow I observed an ESL (English Second Language) student. He did not come in with an assignment or even an example of his work in English, so the session was short. I did notice that he asked about workshops and the tutor said to consult the website. This makes me feel that putting the Writing Center’s website on my tutoring account was a good idea.
