We finished our readings in The Bedford Guide for Writing Tutors this week. When I was looking over the scenarios and how to deal with different writer I thought of a situation that occurs frequently when tutoring science and math. I would image that this can also occur with a peer writing center, although probably not as frequently. I’m talking about tutoring someone who is a fair bit older than you. For some people, including myself, it is not really a problem. Others, however, feel uncomfortable “telling” someone who is two decades older then them what to do. This is a personal concern that people just have to deal with and cannot adequately explained with a scenario, but it is something to consider.
