Our readings for the week before spring break consisted of the chapter of our text about Postmodernism. Postmodernism is after modern, or more modern – the newest possible. Postmodernists, like Andy Warhol, wanted to eliminate high/elite culture and create equity and get rid of absolute standards. For instance, Warhol mass produced works of art, which would seem like a inherent contradiction since art is supposed to be unique in the eyes of elite culture. I am now debating whether I want to do my final project on Structuralism or if I want to look at Postmodernism. I think I will wait until the in class discussion (both occur on the same day) to make my final decision.
